Cont. of “Russell’s Logicisim” by Pedro Melchor

For those of you who were at Thursday’s club meeting, here are a few more links regarding the presentation that Pedro gave. Many of us had far more questions than we had time for. So, hopefully, these links help clear a few things up.

The first deals with the Axiom of Choice, a problem we did not have time to discuss, but Russell does in his book, and the problems that it might pose for Logicism and Set Theory. https://plus.maths.org/content/cantor-and-cohen-infinite-investigators-part-I

The second asks the question, “Are Logicism, and Anti-Logicism, bankrupt and unnecessary? Here’s the article. http://www.uea.ac.uk/~j339/wordlogicism.htm

The third explores the question, “Does mathematics need a Philosophy?” https://www.dpmms.cam.ac.uk/~wtg10/philosophy.html

Feel free to comment with questions, thoughts, etc! Even if you were not able to make the meeting and did not see Pedro’s presentation, we’d love to hear from you!
